RE-UP: Rolling Stones "The King Biscuit Flower Hour 1975, 1978 & 1981" - 1CD

The Rolling Stones - The King Biscuit Flower Hour
9-27-87

WIKIPEDIA ENTRY
The King Biscuit Flower Hour was a syndicated radio show presented by the D.I.R. Radio Network that featured concert performances by various rock ‘n’ roll artists. The program was broadcast weekly on Sunday nights from 1973 until 2007, although new programming ceased in 1993 and previous shows were repeated from that point. During its prime, the program was carried by more than 300 radio stations throughout the United States. The show’s name was derived from the influential blues radio show “King Biscuit Time”, which was sponsored by the King Biscuit Flour Co., and the hippie phrase “flower power”. The first show was broadcast on February 18, 1973 and featured Blood, Sweat & Tears, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Bruce Springsteen. The long-time host of the show until the mid ‘90s was Bill Minkin, whose velvet-smooth voice was the perfect blend of hipster enthusiasm and stoner casualness. [1]
The concerts were usually recorded with a mobile recording truck, then mixed and edited for broadcast on the show within a few weeks. In the 1970s, the show was sent to participating radio stations on reel-to-reel tape. In 1980 D.I.R. began using the LP format, producing the show on a three-sided, two record set. The first show on compact disc was a live retrospective of The Rolling Stones broadcast on September 27, 1987. By the year 2000, King Biscuit was using CD-R media to distribute the show. These tapes, records or compact discs were accompanied by a cue sheet which gave the disc jockey a written guideline of the content and length of each segment of the program.

This is ripped from the FIRST EVER KBFH produced D.I.R. CD. All KBFH releases before this were on reel-to-reel tape & then vinyl. As you may be aware the CD is split into 3 segements. Each segment includes commercial breaks. Eg Ford Motorcraft, Budweiser, U.S. Army recruitment.
Each segment also of course includes the live performances, in excellent quality, as follows.

01 - Segment A: Chicago 1981.
Miss You
Hang Fire
Beast Of Burden
She's So Cold
02 - Segment B: Detroit 1978.
Honky Tonk Woman
Shattered
Tumbling Dice
Jumpin'Jack Flash
03 - Segment C: Brussels 1975.
Brown Sugar
Happy
Gimme Shelter

RE-UP: Rolling Stones "Like The Rolling Stones" - BBC Radio 2 interview

BBC Radio 2 -  Like The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones… in conversation with Paul Sexton, recorded in Toronto, Canada, earlier this month.

Programme One

Paul talks to the band about their place in music in 2005 and the importance of the Rolling Stones brand. He discusses the band on tour and gets the low-down on what goes on behind the scenes and on stage. Paul also assesses the band's relationship with the media over the years and gives the listener a real insight into one of Britain’s legendary rock bands.

Programme Two

Paul focuses on the making of Rolling Stones’ brand new album “A Bigger Bang” , due for release in September and widely thought to be their best studio album for over 20 years.

The programme looks at why the band returned to the studio so quickly after the last tour and focuses on the remarkable songwriting partnership between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Paul also traces the story of the Stones since their “Forty Licks” Tour back in 2002, in particular looking at factors that have led to changing relationships within the band as well as assessing the bands legacy and future.

Recorded at Olympic Studios, London in June 1968. Excellent 6/6 Soundboard.
Note: From the liner notes: On this CD you'll find collected together all unreleased material that was left over from the 'Beggar's Banquet' LP sessions in 1968. You'll discover lots of unheard-of songs/studio jams as well as early versions of Stones' Classics. For many of these sessions the Rolling Stones were joined by Nicky Hopkins on keyboards. But notice the absence of Brian Jones on many of these tracks due to drug problems (!?)

RE-UP: Rolling Stones "Satanic Sessions volume 2" - 4CD

Rolling Stones - Satanic Sessions Box 2 cd 1-4 ('No Label'-release)

Rolling Stones - Satanic Sessions, Eight CD set, original silver disc.
No apparent label.
First a note: Maybe seven years ago I found out about the existence of the Rolling
Stones "Satanic Sessions" set.
I persuaded a kid from some newsgroup to sell me a copy as I had nothing to trade.
He said, "OK i'll do it next week, this week I have my SATs."
Well that set set me off a nice little hobby I've I pursued to  this day.
Unfortunately the set did not survive.
It fell victim to my habit of putting nice shiny (and expensive) labels on every
disc I had.
I've been looking for a new copy ever since I realized the  error of my ways.
This is not that set.
It is set up differently and the track listings are not the same.
but i found it on the net and bought it and I'm posting.
The art will be hard to recreate:
It comes in two four-disc cases and the booklets fold out to three pages.
but really all you need to know is the blue one is set No 1 and the red is No 2

RE-UP: Rolling Stones "Necrophilia" - 1CD - alternate versions 1964-1967

The Rolling Stones
Necrophilia
Vinyl Gang Product (VGP 317)
Quality: Excellent-Perfect

Alternate versions from 1964 to 1967

This is the never-released album from 1971 (or was it 1972), which was pressed on a few acetates. Some acetates were sold, for a lot of money, a couple of years ago, and....surfaced on bootleg CD after a while. The songs are either completely different takes (like "Have You Seen Your Mother Baby"), or different mixes than the official versions (from Metamophosis)
Pay Your Dues and the speeded-up Blue Turns To Gray are fantastic, IMO
As Metomophosis, several of the songs features Jagger, Richards and studio musicians, and not the other Stones members.

Artwork included

This is a high quality vinyl transfer made using the original London/ABCKO unreleased vinyl source and then digitally remastered.
Artwork is included and was created from 300DPI scans of the digipak bootleg for jewel case use.

TRACK LISTING

01 OUT OF TIME
02 DON'T LIE TO ME
03 HAVE YOU SEEN YOUR MOTHER, BABY, STANDING IN THE SHADOW
04 THINK
05 HEAR IT
06 SOMETHING JUST STUCK IN YOUR MIND
07 AFTERMATH
08 I'D RATHER BE WITH THE BOYS
09 ANDREW'S BLUES
10 PAY YOUR DUES
11 LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL
12 HEART OF STONE
13 EACH & EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR
14 (WALKIN' THRU THE) SLEEPY CITY
15 TRY A LITTLE HARDER
16 BLUE TURNS TO GREY
17 WE'RE WASTING TIME

The planned follow-up to Hot Rocks was to be titled Necrophilia, and was to have the tracks selected by
the unpredictable Andrew Loog Oldham. A gatefold sleeve was designed by Fabio Nicoli using
photography by the Stones' official photographer from the sixties, Gered Mankowitz.
Only an extremly limited number had been produced when, rumour has it, Oldham and Allen Klein had a
major disagreement over Oldham's eclectric track selection, which included controversial songs such as
"Andrews Blues" and "Pay Your Dues" (the alternate version of Street Fighting Man).
What you hear here is a vinyl transfer to CD of the actual unreleased album.

***NOTE: I HAVE REMOVED THE NEDDLE DROP SOUNDS (declicked) FOUND AT THE BEGINNING AND END OF EACH TRACK THAT WAS PRESENT ON THE ORIGINAL GOLD CD BOOTLEG***

But, after listening, i'm not sure of that. Apparently the sources are not the same and are much better.

RE-UP: Tumbling Dice live in Kendall 1992 - 1CD - May 2

Tumbling Dice aka ;

Mick Taylor, Nicky Hopkins, Bobby Keyes

Charcoals, Kendall, FL
May 2nd, 1992
Audience recording

The sound quality for the May 2nd show is "excellent" by the start of the first song. This show is arguably the best of the three from this line-up in South Florida... Yes, I purported the April 29th show to be the best but upon further review this show really kicks ass.

Set List ; May 2, 1992

01 Intro 1;01
02 Hideaway 6;48
03 Mercy Mercy 8;36
04 You Gotta Move 9;26
05 Edward 7;07
06 Soul Serenade 11;23
07 Introducing Can t You Hear Me Knocking 0;38
08 Can t You Hear Me Knocking 9;46
09 Outro 0;52

Since I got one track title wrong the last time around (by not just going with the information from Nico's fabulous site), the track titles were taken from Nico's site... EXCEPT track 206; Bobby Keys had introduced this song on April 29th and credited it to King Curtis so I'm going with that.
For the line up of players, again, I refer all to Nico's site (additional sax player "Charlie" is introduced somewhere between 202 and 203 on May 2nd).

Time ; 55;36

RE-UP: Tumbling Dice live in Kendall 1992 - 1CD - May 1

Tumbling Dice aka ;

Mick Taylor, Nicky Hopkins, Bobby Keyes

Charcoals, Kendall, FL
May 1st, 1992
Audience recording

The sound quality for the May 1st show is "aud vg" due to the sound system not being that great; for the encore of "Little Red Rooster" I was able to get very close to MT, yet the sound doesn't get any better. This show is arguably lackluster compared to the other two. I speculate that the monitor problems that Bobby Keys repeatedly begs corrections for is the reason. It's still good and worth having.

Set List ; May 1, 1992

01 Intro 2;36
02 Hideaway 8;19
03 Mercy Mercy 8;57
04 You Gotta Move 10;49
05 Edward 6,47 ( Edit from original 7;09 now 6;47 , cut the silence )
06 Five Long Years 10;50
07 Baby What You Want Me To Do 9;13
08 Can t You Hear Me Knocking 11,24
09 Leave/Return To Stage 1;14 ( Edit from original 7;56 now 1;14 )
10 Little Red Rooster 5,10
11 Outro 1;15

With special guest Lester Chambers (voc) on 'Five Long Years' and  'Baby What You Want Me To Do'.

Time ; 76;29

RE-UP: Tumbling Dice live in Kendall 1992 - 1CD - April 29

Tumbling Dice aka ;

Mick Taylor, Nicky Hopkins, Bobby Keyes

Charcoals, Kendall, FL
April 29, 1992
Audience recording

Overall, an excellent audience recording of a great show... Yeah, there are minor problems - The recording level rises during track 1, and there is definitely crowd noise. HOWEVER...the record level is extremely high with NO clipping - perfect! And the music drowns out the crowd except when it gets soft. I truly believe both situations to be negligible in light of the show itself. Speaking of which:
Of the 3 Florida shows from this line-up - all good - this show was head and shoulders above the rest IMO, based on being at all of them and recording all of them. Besides things like bass solos, which I can live without, the tracks are excellent throughout - all strong versions!
"Soul Serenade" from this show is one of my all-time favorite cuts from Mick's solo career, yet this is Bobby's moment of the show! Sure, MT is indeed GREAT during this, and creates one of MY favorite blues solos, BUT Bobby is absolutely SOARING here. I can't overstate this. In it's entirety, this is the BEST bobby Keys I've ever heard bar none. Believe me, I went to hear the guitar player, not the sax!

Setlist ;

01 Hideaway
02 Mercy Mercy
03 You Got to Move
04 Nicky Instrumental (A Nicky Hopkins Track from his album "The Tin Man Was a Dreamer" 6:09 - I don't feel like playing the 8-track to find the exact title, but it's from that album... Both Bobby Keys and Nico's site are incorrect about the title - I am not.)
05 Soul Serenade
06 Can't You Hear Me Knocking
07 I Wonder Why

Time 66 minutes

Line-up ;
Mick Taylor - guitar, vocals
Nicky Hopkins - keyboards
Bobby Keys - saxophone
Fuzzy Samuels - bass
John Marr - drums

Lineage: Lumix DMC TZ7 >Pavtube MTS converter>Nero Vision>Traders Little Helper

Video bitrate 9000
Audio AC3
PAL 16/9

The Lumix has great mics, it does sound terrific even on a good hi fi system. Instruments are very distinct and the recording accurately conveys the actual sound at the concert. Don't hesitate to play it loud

The only limitation of the Lumix is it can only record 15 min segments. So one has to stop the recording after each 1-2 songs.
I chose to make 1 uncut file, so there are 3 seconds missing between some songs
